Lewis Martin - Lead Pastor
I was born in Georgia but spent most of my formative years in the Dallas, Texas area. I attended Wesley College where I met my wife Tracey. I have a BS in Christian Ministry from Wesley College; BA in History and Secondary Education from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and an MA in Social Sciences from the University of West Alabama. I was a youth pastor in Jackson, MS for 6 years and have been lead pastor at Madison Nazarene for the last 13 years. Tracey and I have three children, Reagen (senior at Athens State University), Seth (working full-time and part time student at Calhoun Community College), and Aaron (Seventh grader at Liberty Middle School).
If you spend any time with me you will find out that I love sports and movies. God did not bless me with much ability to play sports, but he did give me a great appreciation for sports. My favorite teams are Atlanta United, Braves, Falcons, and Hawks, Georgia Bulldogs, and Arsenal. Some of my favorite movies are: On the Waterfront, Shawshank Redemption, Star Wars (original trilogy), Raiders of the Lost Ark, 12 Monkeys, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Sunset Blvd, and Rear Window.
If I could vacation anywhere in the world, I would go to Europe. As a student of history, Europe is a must visit location. I would love to see the museums, castles, churches, and the other attractions.
I don’t really watch much prime time TV because, with the exception of sporting events, my kids or wife have control of the TV. With that being said, I watch a lot of shows on the Disney channel and on the Hallmark Network. The book I am currently reading is "Incarnate" by Michael Frost.
David King - Worship Pastor
Like most people I am a transplant into North Alabama. Born in Upstate New York, I have lived in several different states. Finally found my piece of heaven on earth when my family and I settled in Alabama in 2000.
I am married to Beth and have two sons, Zach and Braden. Beth is a software engineer. Zach is a recent Trevecca Nazarene University grad and serving as Worship and Youth Pastor at Mobile First Nazarene. Braden is a student at Trevecca Nazarene University majoring in Information Technology.
I am a 2000 graduate of Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, CO. I am also an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. I have served on staff at churches in Castle Rock, Co; Cullman, AL; and Huntsville, AL. Currently I serve Madison Nazarene on a bi-vocational basis. I run my own contracting business and serve the church part-time.
When I'm not working my favorite hobby is to head to Smith Lake with the family and enjoy some water sports. I also enjoy playing golf, though I rarely have time to play these days.
In the near future my family will grow a bit when Zach marries Ms. Angela Keffer. Wedding date is set for Sept 21, 2014.
I love being a part of what God is doing in Madison, AL. I have the privilege of working with some talented and commited musicians to lead our worship on a weekly basis. I am humbled to think that God could use me to make His glory known.
Shane Perry - Youth Pastor
I was born in New Jersey, but moved to northwestern Montana, and eastern Tennessee when I was young. I spent most of my life in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I met my wife, and where most of our immediate family still lives. We have fallen in love with Madison, along with the greater area of northern Alabama, and we happily call it home. I have been truly blessed with an amazing family; especially my wonderful, supportive wife, Hannah. God has placed her in my life as not only a best friend, but as a spiritual guide and sounding board. We are also excited to announce that our family is growing as we are expecting our first child in July 2017!
I have served in full-time ministry (including youth and worship) since early 2012, holding positions in South Carolina, Ohio, and Alabama. I have been serving at Madison Nazarene since November 2015 focusing on middle and high school student ministries. I have a B.A. in Pastoral Ministry from Nazarene Bible College, and am an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
My hobbies include music, reading, anything outdoors, watching TV or movies, playing the occasional video game, and almost anything related to sports. As far as music goes I sing, and play several instruments (guitar, bass, drums, and learning piano). I have a passion for worship, and helping others (especially students) develop their musical gifts and find ways for them to use them on a weekly basis.
Hannah and I have found that Madison Nazarene (or Mad-Naz as many like to call it) is not a church full of perfect people, or people pretending to be perfect, but rather a group of believers that strives to imitate Christ through the good and bad times in life, while loving and caring for each other as a family. We are stronger together, and would love for you to be a part of this family with us!
